HAVE A SHORT-TIME LAYOVER AT THE AIRPORT? - Maybe you want to visit its on-site museum (consider 45 minutes):
The Museum of Roman Vessels
During the 1958-1965 airport construction the remains of five boats belonging to the ancient Port of Emperor Claudius, were excavated and eventually made part of an on-site exhibition at the Museum of Roman Vessels. The boats are of different time periods (2d - 4th centuries).
The museum is located at Via A. Guidoni, 35 – 00050 Fiumicino Aeroporto (RM) -Tel. +39 06 6529192 or +39 06 65010089. There is an entry fee of 2 euros, however, it is free for member citizens of the European Union Countries under 18 and over 65 . Reduced rate between 18 and 25.
Open to the public: Tues-Sun 9am-1:30pm; and Tues. & Thurs. also open 2:30-4:30pm. No Mondays.
