Tampico Mina International Airport TAM serves the northeast Mexican state of Tamaulipas and the metrpolitan areas of Tampico, Cidudad Madero and Altamira. It is operated by the OMA Group. Tampico is the main seaport in northeastern Mexico and the region has major oil & petrochemical industries. TAM Airport is located within the city of Tampico.
With three runways and 717,599 passengers in 2016, Tampico Mina International Airport is served by a number of domestic and international airlines.
The passenger terminal at Tampico Mina International Airport houses on the ground level checkin-desks, a waiting room, baggage claim area, customs, cash machine, rental cars, & Information counter, and access to gates 3 & 4. On level 2 it has airline gates 1 & 2. The terminal offers a newsstand, food & drink and shops, a pharmacy and the lottery.
Parking: Short- and long-term parking is available at the parking lot across from the passenger terminal.
Transport from Airport: Authorized taxi & van service is available to the city and surrounding areas. Rates are based on a zone system, the type of vehicle and the number of passengers. Fare tickets can be bought at the taxi kiosk. TTT taxis accept cash only (tel. 833-228-4588) and it has a kiosk right next to the rental car desks on level 2.
Current and future Airport developments: As the current Airport is in a densely populated area, it was decided to replace it with a new one - 40km north of the present airport, which is to cover 1,200 hectares - large enough for needed 3 runways and a passenger terminal able to handle up to one million passengers a year. No completion date could be established.
