Toluca International Airport TLC (officially called 'Vuela Toluca Aeropuerto International'') at an elevation of 2,575 meters, is the main alternate airport for the Mexico City International Airport, and the only Mexican Airport with a Cat II landing system, enabling aircraft to land in low visibility conditions. Toluca Airport - reached from Highway 134, taking exit 'Blvd. Aeropuerto' - is only 40 km from Mexico's most important business center, the Santa Fe financial district, and only a 55-minute ride to downtown Mexico City.
TLC Airport is located in the state capital of Toluca, State of Mexico, and is accessible from Santa Fe & Toluca via Paseo Tollocan, Blvd. Miguel German; from Naucalpan via Toluca Naucalpan, Blvd. Miguel German. Mexico City's downtown is 55 km from Toluca Airport.
NOTE: Toluca airport had served 4.3M passengers in 2008, but upon Volaris relocating its hub to Guadalahara in 2011 and Interjet moving the bulk of its operations to Mexico City - passenger traffic fell considerably (in 2013 to 1.2M; and by 2016 to merely 771,152).
With a 4,200 meter runway, and 0.8 million passengers in 2016, Toluca International Airport is a member of the National Air Transport (CANAERO) and is currently served by AeroMexico, InterJet, Spirit, Viva TAR & Volaris airlines..
The L-shaped passenger terminal complex at Toluca International Airport - able to accommodate up to 6M passengers annually - consists of a Domestic and an International wing. Amenities & services include information points, first-aid, food & drink and retail concessions, a pharmacy, newsstands, and rental car desks, currency exchange & ATM and the Centurian Club Lounge for American Express members is located between national arrivals gates 3 & 4.
Parking is available across from the terminal, with optional Valet Parking.
