  • The SunTran Route 25 follows the route that is north along Park Avenue to the Laos Transit Center (205 W. Irvington Rd. and Ronstadt Transit Center 215 E)

Tucson Airport: A Brief History Timeline

  • In 1919, the first municipally owned and operated airport was opened by Tucson.
  • The United States Army Air Forces Air Technical Service Command used this airfield during World War II.
  • In 1948, a non-profit corporation called the Tucson Airport Authority was created. Its role was to oversee policy decisions and operate the airport.
  • On November 15, 1963, a brand new terminal with an international inspection station.
  • In 1985, the terminal almost doubled in size owing to a remodeling project.
  • In 2008, the terminals, gates, and concourses were re-numbered. In January 2014, a new control tower plan was introduced.
  • Finally, in 2016, the Terminal Optimization Program (TOP) was announced to further improve the services of the Tucson Airport.
