Getting Around VNY Airport
Van Nuys Airport, primarily serving general aviation, has a straightforward layout that caters to business and private aviation needs. The airport features several fixed-base operators (FBOs) that provide a range of services including fueling, hangaring, and maintenance. These FBOs are distributed across the airport grounds, making it easy for travelers to access their services upon arrival.
For those navigating the airport, it's important to note the presence of multiple terminals and hangars. While the airport does not have commercial passenger terminals like larger airports, the FBOs function as the main points of service. Here are some tips for getting around:
- Signage: Clear signage throughout the airport will guide you to various FBOs, maintenance areas, and other facilities.
- Shuttle Services: Many FBOs offer complimentary shuttle services to transport passengers between different parts of the airport.
- On-Site Assistance: Staff at the FBOs can provide directions and assistance to ensure you reach your destination efficiently.
Whether you're a pilot, passenger, or visitor, understanding the layout and services available at Van Nuys Airport will help you navigate the premises with ease.

Security & Screening
In this section, you'll find comprehensive details about the security and screening processes at the airport. Learn about the location of security checkpoints, the availability of TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints, and the absence of fast track and CLEAR lanes. Additionally, discover information about passport and immigration control for international travelers, as well as nearby Global Entry enrollment centers. Finally, explore options for renewing or enrolling in TSA PreCheck to expedite your airport experience.
Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)
VNY Airport has one security checkpoint located at the entrance of the terminal building. All passengers are required to go through the security checkpoint before entering the boarding area. The security checkpoint is equipped with X-ray machines and metal detectors to ensure the safety of all passengers and their belongings. Passengers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled departure time to allow enough time for the security screening process.
Fast Track Lanes and Locations
The airport does not have any fast track lanes for security screening or immigration control. However, passengers with disabilities or special needs can request assistance from the airport staff to expedite the screening process.
Passport & Immigration Control Locations
VNY does not have any international flights, therefore, there are no passport or immigration control locations at the airport. However, passengers traveling to international destinations from nearby airports such as Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Burbank Bob Hope Airport (BUR) will need to go through passport and immigration control at those airports.
TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints
Van Nuys Airport has both TSA and TSA Pre Checkpoints to ensure smooth and efficient security screening for all passengers. The TSA Pre Checkpoint allows eligible passengers to enjoy expedited screening, where they can keep on their shoes, belts, and light jackets, and leave laptops and liquids in their carry-on bags. To be eligible for TSA Pre, passengers must apply and be approved through the TSA Pre Check program.
