Getting Around the Airport
Oakland International Airport has two main terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Both terminals are connected to each other at post-security and gate areas, enabling arriving passengers to arrive straight on to their connecting flights without having to re-enter the security check. Both terminals of the OAK Airport have US Customs & Border Protection facilities.
Terminal 1
Terminal 1 is currently served by Alaska, Allegiant, American, Boutique, Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Norwegian, SATA, Spirit, and Volaris. It has 18 gates numbered as Gates 1 - 18.
The ground level houses the baggage claim area, most of the ticketing/check-in counters, and Customs.
Level 2 provides access to the gate areas and the ticketing/check-in counters for Hawaiian and Volaris.

Terminal 2
Terminal 2 is currently served by Southwest only. It has 13 gates numbered as Gates 20 - 32.
This terminal houses the baggage claim area, ticketing/check-in counters, and security checkpoints providing access to the gates areas.
Level 2 provides access to the gate areas and the ticketing/check-in counters for Hawaiian and Volaris.

Food, Shops & Amenities
There are many options for shopping and dining around OAK airport. Some notable shops and restaurants include Proudly Brewed by Peet's (Gate 4), Tap 'N Pour (Gate 6), and Lake Merritt News (Gate 15) in Terminal 1; and East Bay Cafe (Gate 23), Max's & OAK Pizza (Gate 28), and Oakland Marketplace (Gate 28) in Terminal 2.
Security Checkpoints
The security checkpoints at OAK airport are monitored by the Federal TSA - Transportation Security Administration. Only passengers possessing tickets are allowed to proceed beyond any of the security checkpoints. All security checkpoints provide access to the concourses and airplane gates.

Airline Lounges
There is a lounge offered by the OAK Airport for the passengers to spend some time and relax. This lounge called the ‘Escape Lounge’ is located inside Terminal 1 directly opposite Gate 9 and between the Gates 8 and 8A.
Terminal Tips
- Arrive 90 minutes before flight time in case of domestic flights, and two hours before flight time in case of international flights.
- Rental cars operate between the two terminals after every 10 minutes via Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, FOX, Hertz, National Car Rental, Payless, and Thrifty.
- BART Trains run between the city and the airport and are a feasible public ground transportation option
- Transportation Network Companies operating at the OAK Airport include Uber/Lyft/Wingz
- Other ground transportation options include shuttle, limos, and taxis.
