Getting Around WLG Airport

WLG operates with a single terminal structure, which is divided into three main piers: the south, south-west, and north-west piers. This layout simplifies navigation as all facilities are centrally located within one building. The terminal spans a total area of 32,300 square meters, featuring a common check-in area on the first floor and a baggage claim on the ground floor. Both floors are linked directly to retail and refreshment zones, providing clear and convenient access for passengers as they move through the terminal.

To facilitate your movement inside the airport, here are some tips:

  • Gate Assignments: Gates 3 to 12 in the south pier and Gates 18 to 20 in the main terminal primarily serve regional flights. Gates 13 to 17 in the south-west pier cater mostly to domestic flights by Air New Zealand, with jetbridge access available at all gates except Gate 14. The north-west pier, featuring Gates 21 to 29, handles all international flights and Jetstar domestic jets. Note that these gates are renumbered as Gates 41 to 49 when used for international operations.
  • Lounges: For lounge access, Air New Zealand provides three options: the Regional Lounge on the second floor of the main terminal for regional travelers, the Domestic Lounge located past the security screening in the south-west pier for domestic jet travelers, and the International Lounge after outbound passport control in the north-west pier for international passengers. Qantas also offers a lounge in the north-west pier for international departures.
