Getting from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to your destination: New Intercity highways now link Istanbul to the cities of Bursa, Ismir, Antalya & to the Black Sea Speedway. You can get to your destination by Bus, Train or Ferry:

Havas Shuttle buses run every 30 mins. to Bakirkoy, Yenikapi, Aksaray, Taksim Square; hourly service runs to Kozyatagi (Asian side), and service every hour to Etiler-Akmerkez.
Havas buses run according to departure/arrival schedules of the ferries to the fast ferry terminal in Bakirkoy, which connects to the Bostanci & Kadikoy terminals.
The City Bus runs to Taksim, Etiler & Kozytagi, a slower but cheaper alternative.
By Train:
Metro light rail service (tel. +90 212 444 0088), takes 30-35 mins. It runs to Yenikapi, passing through major parts of the European side of the city, including its bus terminal. (Starting at Yenikapi, the Metro makes the following stops before reaching Ataturk Airport: Aksaray, Emniyet - Fatih, Topkapi - Ulubatli, Bayrampasa - Maltepe, Sagmalcilar, Kartaltepe - Kocatepe, Esenler Otogar, Terazidere, Davutpasa - YTU, Merter, Zeytinburnu, Bakirkoy - Incirli, Bahcelievler, Atakoy - Sirinevler, Yenibosna, DTM Istanbul Fuar Merkezi, and Ataturk Airport.)

New High-speed train connection between Ankara and Istanbul now takes a mere 3.5 hours - covering 500 km. The track extension involved the area between Eskisehir & Istanbul (since 2009, high-speed trains already ran between Ankara & Eskisehir, about the half-way point beween Ankara & Istanbul).
