Getting Around YLW Airport

The main terminal building spans approximately 76,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate a variety of passenger needs. There are 10 aircraft loading positions, with half of them equipped with jet bridges for convenient boarding and deplaning. Upon arrival, passengers will find three baggage carousels in the arrivals area, with one dedicated to international and US arrivals and the other two for domestic flights. Canadian Customs processing is also handled in this area.

The departure lounge offers several amenities including a wired business center and complimentary wireless Internet access. The central feature of the terminal is a glass rotunda, which houses a fountain and the "Escape from Stella Polaris" glass sculpture. For those interested in art, the Kelowna Art Gallery operates a satellite site within the terminal. Additionally, a small observation area is available on the mezzanine level, providing a quiet space to watch aircraft movements.

Security & Screening

In this section, you will find detailed information about the locations of security checkpoints, fast track lanes, and passport and immigration control within the terminal building. Locations of Security Checkpoint(s)

YLW has two security checkpoints located on the main level of the terminal building. The first checkpoint is located near the entrance of the terminal, while the second checkpoint is located near the gates. Both checkpoints are equipped with X-ray machines and metal detectors to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and their belongings.

Fast Track Lanes and Locations

Fast Track lanes are available for passengers who want to expedite the security screening process. Kelowna Airport offers a Fast Track lane for passengers who have purchased a Priority Pass or are members of a participating airline's frequent flyer program. The Fast Track lane is located at the first security checkpoint near the entrance of the terminal building.

Passport & Immigration Control Locations

Passport and immigration control is located on the lower level of the terminal building. Upon arrival, passengers will proceed to the immigration hall where they will present their passport and other required documents to a border services officer. After clearing immigration, passengers will proceed to the baggage claim area to collect their luggage. Passengers who are connecting to another flight will proceed to the departure gates located on the main level of the terminal building.

Baggage Claim Areas

Upon arrival at the airport, passengers can easily locate the baggage claim area by following the signs. The airport has two baggage carousels located in the arrivals area. Baggage claim areas are equipped with monitors displaying flight information, making it easy for passengers to identify which carousel their luggage will be arriving on. Baggage carts are available for use free of charge in the baggage claim area.
