Terminal 2 Info & Layout

Terminal 2 at Melbourne Airport is the primary hub for international flights, with some limited domestic services. Opened in 1970, this terminal is a bustling gateway to the world, featuring 20 gates equipped with aerobridges to facilitate smooth boarding and deplaning processes. Major international airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Emirates operate from this terminal, providing a wide array of destinations and services.

Travelers at Terminal 2 can enjoy a variety of amenities, including airline lounges such as the Qantas First and Business lounges, and other lounges operated by Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Emirates. The terminal is adorned with works by renowned Australian Indigenous artists, offering a unique cultural experience.

Access to Terminal 2 is straightforward, with pedestrian walkways connecting passengers from other terminals. Notably, a $330 million expansion completed in 2012 introduced new lounges, retail spaces, and a satellite terminal with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide stunning views of the North-South runway. This satellite terminal is connected to Terminal 2 via an above-ground corridor, ensuring seamless navigation for passengers.

Unique features of Terminal 2 include its state-of-the-art baggage handling system, which was upgraded to accommodate increased traffic from large aircraft like the A380. The terminal's design includes three double-decker aerobridges, capable of servicing an A380 or two smaller aircraft simultaneously, enhancing its capacity and efficiency.
